Marketplace
The Marketplace is a public job board where you can discover and request access to available leads in your area. These are jobs that didn't get matched through a pro's private network and are now open to qualified professionals.
When a job's routing plan exhausts all pros in the owner's bench without an acceptance, and their overflow setting is configured to go public, the job becomes a marketplace lead. This gives you access to work opportunities beyond your existing network.
Unlike direct bench offers, marketplace jobs use a request and approval system—you submit a request, and the job owner reviews and decides whether to match you with the job.
Key Concepts
How Jobs Reach the Marketplace
Jobs appear in the marketplace through a specific flow:
- A client submits a job through a pro's referral link
- The job is offered to pros in that owner's bench based on their workflow settings
- Each pro has a set time (hop duration) to accept or decline
- If all bench pros decline or don't respond, the job "overflows"
- If the owner's overflow logic is set to Public, the job becomes a marketplace lead
Jobs only reach the marketplace when the original network couldn't fulfill them. This means marketplace leads are genuine opportunities where a client is actively looking for help.
Urgency Levels
Each marketplace lead displays an urgency level assigned when the job was created:
| Urgency | Color | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| High | Red | Client needs immediate assistance |
| Medium | Amber | Standard timeline, flexible scheduling |
| Low | Blue | No rush, can be scheduled at convenience |
Urgency helps you prioritize which leads to pursue first and set expectations for response time.
Lead Fees
Each lead shows a lead fee based on the job's tier. This is the fee you pay when the job owner accepts your request. The fee is held on your card when you submit a request and only captured if you're accepted. If your request is declined or expires, the hold is automatically released.
| Tier | Lead Fee |
|---|---|
| Small | $50 |
| Medium | $100 |
| Large | $300 |
| Extra Large | $1,000 |
| Supersize | $5,000 |
Browsing Available Leads
Navigate to Marketplace in your dashboard sidebar to view all available leads.
Lead Information
Each lead in the table shows:
- Job Details — The job title and when it was posted
- Location — Where the work needs to be done
- Urgency — Color-coded priority level (High, Medium, Low)
- Lead Fee — The fee you'll pay if your request is accepted
- Action — Request Access button to submit your interest
Leads are displayed in a table format for easy scanning. The posted time shows how long the lead has been available, helping you identify fresh opportunities.
Filtering Leads
Use the filter options to narrow down leads by:
- Trade — Focus on jobs matching your expertise
- Location — Find jobs within your service area
- Urgency — Prioritize based on client timeline
Filters help you quickly find the most relevant opportunities without scrolling through unrelated jobs.
Availability
Multiple pros can request access to the same lead. The job remains visible in the marketplace until the owner accepts a request, at which point it's matched and removed from the marketplace.
Check the marketplace regularly to catch new leads as they become available. High-urgency jobs tend to receive requests quickly.
Requesting Access
When you find a lead you want to pursue:
- Review the job details, location, and lead fee
- Click Request Access on the lead row
- Optionally add a message introducing yourself to the job owner
- Confirm the request—a hold is placed on your card for the lead fee
- Your request is sent to the job owner for review
The Payment Hold
When you submit a request, a temporary hold is placed on your payment method for the lead fee amount. This hold:
- Is not a charge — Your card isn't charged until you're accepted
- Expires automatically — If the owner doesn't respond within 7 days, the hold is released
- Is released on decline — If the owner declines your request, the hold is released immediately
This system ensures you only pay for leads you actually receive while showing the owner you're a serious candidate.
After Requesting
Once you submit a request:
- The job owner receives an email notification with your request
- Your request appears in their job detail view for review
- You can see your pending requests in your dashboard
- Wait for the owner to accept or decline
When You're Accepted
If the job owner accepts your request:
- The lead fee is captured from your payment method
- The job is matched to you and removed from the marketplace
- You receive access to full job details and client contact information
- Standard job workflow applies (progress tracking, completion, payment)
When You're Declined
If the job owner declines your request:
- The payment hold is released immediately
- You can continue requesting access to other marketplace leads
- Consider this feedback—refine your approach or focus on leads better suited to your profile
How Marketplace Differs from Bench Jobs
| Aspect | Bench Jobs | Marketplace Leads |
|---|---|---|
| Source | Offered by someone who added you to their bench | Self-selected from public listings |
| Matching | Direct offer—accept or decline | Request and approval process |
| Competition | Sequential offers to specific pros | Multiple pros can request the same job |
| Payment | Fee captured on job completion | Lead fee held at request, captured on acceptance |
| Relationship | You know the job owner | May be a new connection |
| Availability | Offered directly to you | Must actively browse and request |
Marketplace leads let you expand beyond your existing network and build new professional relationships.
Best Practices
Check Regularly
New leads appear as jobs overflow from various networks. Checking the marketplace throughout the day increases your chances of finding good opportunities.
Act Quickly on High-Urgency
High-urgency leads indicate clients who need immediate help. Owners reviewing these requests often make quick decisions. If you see a high-urgency job in your trade and area, submit your request promptly.
Write a Good Message
When requesting access, include a brief message about your relevant experience or availability. Owners review multiple requests—a professional introduction helps you stand out.
Consider Location
The location column helps you assess travel time and whether the job is practical for your service area. Focus on leads within a reasonable distance to maintain profitability.
Review Before Requesting
Take a moment to review the job details before submitting. Make sure it's a service you can provide, the location works for your schedule, and the lead fee fits your budget.

FAQ
How do leads get to the marketplace?
Leads reach the marketplace when a job exhausts all pros in the owner's bench without being accepted, and the owner's overflow logic is set to Public. The job then becomes visible to all qualified pros in the marketplace.
What is the lead fee?
The lead fee is a one-time fee you pay when the job owner accepts your request. It's based on the job's tier (Small, Medium, Large, or Extra Large). A hold is placed on your card when you submit a request, and the fee is only captured if you're accepted.
What happens to the hold if I'm declined?
If the owner declines your request or doesn't respond within 7 days, the hold is automatically released. You're never charged for leads you don't receive.
Can I see who originally had the job?
The marketplace listing shows basic job details. Once you submit a request and the owner reviews it, they see your profile. If accepted, you gain access to full job and client details.
Can multiple pros request the same lead?
Yes. Unlike bench jobs which are offered sequentially, marketplace leads can receive requests from multiple pros. The owner reviews all requests and chooses the best fit.
What happens if I'm accepted but can't complete the job?
If you're accepted but can't follow through, contact the job owner to discuss options. The lead fee is non-refundable once captured. Consistently abandoning accepted jobs may affect your standing on the platform.
Why don't I see any leads?
The marketplace shows jobs that have overflowed to public. If no jobs are currently available, it means all recent jobs were successfully matched within owners' private networks. Check back regularly as new leads appear throughout the day.
Can I filter marketplace leads?
Yes. Use the filter options to narrow leads by trade, location, and urgency level. This helps you focus on the most relevant opportunities.
How long do requests stay pending?
Requests expire after 7 days if the owner doesn't respond. You'll be notified and the hold on your card will be released automatically.
Do marketplace leads pay differently?
The job payout structure is the same as bench jobs. The difference is the upfront lead fee you pay when accepted. This fee goes to the platform, not the job owner.
